ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES

The ECTS is aware of the environmental impact of holding a large congress, and is working closely with its suppliers and staff to ensure that environmentally friendly policies are in place. For the Athens congress the ECTS has made the following “green” arrangements:

CATERING
Catering during the congress will be provided by Aria Gefseon. Aria Gefseon S.A joins ECTS/IBMS in the goal to stage an environmentally friendly catering service. They recognise that catering to ECTS/IBMS has the potential to generate considerable amount of waste. Their environmental policy will secure an environmental friendly operation and will enhance the eco friendly image of the company. PRINTING
ECTS is committed to ensuring that printing is kept to a minimum and that promotional methods focus more on the website to reduce the amount of waste paper. The Final programme book will be printed on recyclable paper, all printing stations will contain recyclable paper and all flyers handed out by the ECTS will be on recyclable paper. Abstracts will be made available online and on a CD-ROM. The abstract book will not be made available to everyone but delegates have the opportunity to purchase a copy. This way printing of the abstract book will be kept to a minimum. The abstract book will be printed on FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified paper.
