ATHENS CITY TOUR

Monday 9 May
09:00-13:00 - Half day tour

This tour gives an opportunity to observe the striking contrasts that make Athens such a fascinating city. Expert guides take the participants to see the center of the city. Constitution Square (Syntagma), the House of Parliament, the Memorial to the Unknown Soldier and the National Library. On the way to the Acropolis participants will see the Hadrian's Arch, visit the Temple of Olympian Zeus and will make a short stop at the Panathenaic Stadium where the first Olympic Games of the modern era were held in 1896. On the Acropolis participants can visit the architectural masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens: the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erectheion and finally "the harmony between material and spirit", the monument that "puts order in the mind", the Parthenon.

Included in accompanying persons' registration fee.

ECTS/IBMS CULTURAL EVENT-PARTY

Tuesday 10 May
20.00-late - Technopolis

The ECTS/IBMS congress party will be held at the Technopolis, the city's former gasworks that has been transformed to one of the most modern multipurpose cultural spaces in all of Europe.

The gasworks are gradually transformed into an education centre and host venue for various events. The charm of a bygone area, conveyed through stacks, enormous cauldrons (gasometers), chimneys and ovens, "conspires" with reverence to establish the site as a "factory" for the protection and production of art. Etymologically, the word "gas" (derived from the ancient German galist, later geist) means spirit.

Don't miss this great evening with live music entertainment from the Bluesbug band, traditional Greek food and Greek hospitality.

Food and drinks are included
€25
