Athens – Getting around

Arriving in Athens

If you are an EU citizen, you must either present a passport or an ID card valid for the duration of your stay in order to enter Greece for tourist visits of up to three months. Citizens of other countries must have a valid passport. Some non-EU citizens are required to produce a visa. Please contact your travel agent or the nearest Greek diplomatic post for further information. Should you need a letter of invitation to register to obtain an Entry Visa, please contact MCI. Please note that we cannot enter into correspondence with the Greek Authorities on your behalf and an invitation letter does not imply any financial liability on our part. Travelling from Athens International Airport to the city centre

METRO
Delegates can use line 3 of the Attiko metro. This direct journey to the city centre departs every 5 minutes and for a single journey costs EUR 8.00. http://www.amel.gr/index.php?id=375&L=1#c672

Travelling from Athens International Airport to the Megaron

METRO
Line 3 of the Attiko metro connects the Megaron to the Airport. It is just two minutes from the metro station to the door of the Megaron.

TAXIS
The Megaron is part of the Athens Concert Hall which is situated at the corner of Vas. Sofias Avenue and Kokkali St. This is a location most people know and you’ll find it easy to get to. If you travel by taxi, tell the driver you want the Megaron. He won’t need any further directions!

From the airport you can take bus X95

Travelling from Athens city centre to the Megaron

You can travel to the Megaron by public transport from any part of Athens:

• Buses E14, X14, A5 and 550 all stop right in front of the Megaron
• Electrically driven buses 3, 8, 10 and 13 all stop right in front of the Megaron
• From the railway station, it’s just 30 minutes to the Megaron metro station
• From Piraeus it’s just a few minutes ride on the metro
• If you come by car you can park in the Megaron’s new three-level parking facility, which has spaces for 750 cars

Travelling around the city

METRO
The urban rail, includes metro, rail and tram in the city of Athens. Services operate from 05.30am to 00.30pm (Monday-Saturday) and 02.00 on Fridays and Saturdays.
Metro runs every 6-8 minutes and all trains stop at all stations. A flat fare applies to any one journey on the subway; adult single tickets are currently priced at EUR 1.40
